Via Marina Grande, 7 - Sorrento

Casa a Mare isn't just the name of this bed and breakfast in Marina Grande, Sorrento's waterfront fishermen's quarter, but is also a statement of fact: the B&B's terraces, windows, and balconies jut directly out over the water and the sweet sea breeze blows through the rooms all day.

Awaken to the Sound of the Waves

The two guest rooms at Casa a Mare have all the basic amenities travellers need to enjoy their stay in Sorrento, Italy. The larger room has a sea view, so all you have to do is throw open the doors to the balcony and you can look out over the beach and Mediterranean stretching to the horizon. The bed is king sized, and there is air conditioning and free wifi.

On warm days, breakfast is served on the B&B's terrace, so you can begin your day right with homemade cakes while you enjoy the view of the sea right below you.

In the Heart of the Fishing Village

From its waterfront location in Marina Grande, Casa a Mare is the perfect place to experience the authentic seaside resort atmosphere in Sorrento. Sergio, your host, is always available for recommendations on hidden gems to discover, from local restaurants to unknown scenic overlooks for a romantic sunset or an unforgettable photo of Sorrento to remember your holiday by.

Amazing views from the balcony though amenities were disappointing. The shower was super small, tiny soap and no iron. The staff was very nice though the breakfast was quite odd, a lot of pre packaged items. Very little signage and difficult to find, had to call host on WhatsApp just to find the place. Sooo many stairs in Sorrento, regardless of where you stay.

Lovely small hotel, but probably wouldn’t stay here again mostly because of logistics and our age

Our room was very comfortable. The view was lovely. Comfortable bed. The young lady that checked us in was very nice and communicated well. We had to leave earlier than breakfast was being served so they left us a bag with an assortment of breakfast items, which was very kind. Important to know… the hotel did not have a place for our luggage when we arrived to town early. We had to leave it in Piazza Tasso, at a tour company, that wasn’t so bad. The bad part was dragging our luggage a half a mile to the hotel on busy cobblestone streets. A quarter of which was down long stairs. Then when we got to the hotel, the hotel was on the third floor with no elevator. Now if we were in our 20s 30s, maybe even 40s this would not have been that big of a deal but we are not so it just about killed us. Very small shower.

Actually we went in 2018 (sorry I do not see this in that field). I would stay there again. Ask taxi to drop you by the fishing pier..then it's a short climb up to building. Sorry this is unavoidable so travel light. You will have to haul your bags upto the top level.

We will never forget our stay at Casa a Mare. We had such a lovely welcome and the choice of two rooms. We chose Room 1 which had a small balcony big enough for two people overlooking the picturesque Marina Grande. We had stayed at Marina Grande three times before, but never at this accommodation. It was a real treat to enter the front door under the pre-Roman archway to the marina. Our room was on the third floor (I think) which gave us a great view. It was very hot (July/August), but the room was very clean and roomy with a fridge and air con that worked perfectly. Breakfasts on the terrace above were varied, homely and at our chosen time. Our hosts were so nice and friendly and did everything to make sure we were happy. We would thoroughly recommend staying there for as long as possible to use it as a base to visit Amalfi and the Bay of Naples attractions. We had traveled from England to Sorrento entirely by train (5 trains/2 days) and it was well worth it. We will always remember the amazing fireworks, fab views, great food (eating mainly at Taverna Azzura da Gennaro in the Marina) and just soaking up life at the Marina Grande - the best part of Sorrento!
