I am currently staying at the Towers Hotel. My wife and I arrived on Monday 24th March and leave on 31st. I have just read the general review (AI generated) and would concur with it's conclusion. The hotel is, clean, rooms comfortable, bedroom view of Vesuvius, spectacular when the cloud has gone, (not today) but on most other points it disappoints. Wardrobe space for a weeks stay, is very limited, we had to request hangers, there were only 4 on a rail 4 feet wide, original, they found us 6. I had more shirts for the week than that, what was my wife to do? Without a car, it's currently €25 by taxi to either of the nearest rail stations or towns so add €50 to the cost of a meal or your in the budget. The current hotel menu is limited to 4 each of starter, main, 2nd main and desert and hasn't changed all week. Like wise the breakfast choices are unchanged from day to day. Now I appreciate this is still probably an off season review, but I do think they should up their game. I notice that the courtesy bus, mentioned in other reviews, has not been offered by staff on reception, when we requested transfer to the station or town. Has it ceased completely or will return for the summer? Staff are generally cheerful and helpful, though language skills could be better. There are some inconsistencies with housekeeping, replacement of tea/coffee/creamer etc. Change of towels and linen doesn't always align with their environmental guidance. Would we come again, to the region yes, to this hotel, I must admit unlikely.

Lovely hotel

Stayed here in Sept 2024, forgot to leave a review. This was our first ever trip to Italy, and I've fallen in love with Sorrento. There's some really mixed reviews about this hotel, which worried me a bit but we had a lovely stay overall. The reception staff were very polite, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We booked a couple of trips through reception, and spoke to pretty much everyone during our week stay. A lot of other reviews complained about the location, and having to book the shuttle bus, which was awkward at first but once you get your head around the times, it really wasn't much of an issue. And if you only book one-way, which we did a few times when we didn't know how long our activities/trips would last, you can just ring the hotel to book a pickup. Yes, you are quite secluded from bars/restaurants when staying here, but we enjoyed that. If you are wanting to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle then this hotel isnt for you. The bar staff were the highlight of our trip, we'd go out into Sorrento most evenings and then end up back in the hotel bar for a couple of drinks. I can't remember everyone's names now, but they were all so friendly and welcoming, you'd be greeted with a big smile as soon as they saw you walk in. The rooms were lovely, very clean, plenty of space, stunning views of Mt. Vesuvius. The only thing I wouldn't mention is the rooms have showers over baths, and it wasn't the easiest thing to climb in and out of as the bath was quite high. We used the spa once, and were quite disappointed, it was one giant jacuzzi, one steam room, a couple of different showers and that was it, unless you wanted a massage/treatment and it was quite expensive. Worryingly, my boyfriend accidentally set the alarm off in the steam room and no one came to check for a good 5 minutes, he had to walk down to reception to get someone to turn it off. Thankfully this was an accident and not an actual emergency. The pool and beach areas are lovely, couldn't fault these at all. The only major downside was the restaurant, there wasn't much choice, and it was very expensive. We unfortunately got stranded in the hotel one night due to the storm, so we had no choice but to eat there.  However there was one waitress in particular who I have to mention, even though I've forgotten her name, sorry! She was English, blonde hair, possibly the restaurant manager? She was lovely, always so welcoming and giving us tips on where to visit. Overall we had a lovely stay and will hopefully stay again one day, once we've seen more of Italy!

Great hotel but the restaurant cannot be recommended

Starting with the good points..the hotel is amazing, the room is great with Mount Vesuv right across. Reception, Room Service and Housekeeping staff is very friendly. Definitely recommend staying in the hotel. The Alga Restaurant is an entirely different matter. Granted it is not main season, but the service is abysmal. Three waiters in an empty restaurant, yet it is not possible for one of them to walk to the bar for an Aperol, instead he stood next to my table , calling the bar on the phone. The food ordering went somewhat smoothly, and it arrived fast. The Swordfish Carpaccio came with a few drops of the sour sauce, and it tasted somewhat bland. As main course I ordered baked piglet in bacon with mashed potato and asparagus. What I received was swordfish. When mentioning it to one of the waiters I had to explain multiple times that I did not order swordfish, and received a half hearted sorry. Shortly after I received what I ordered without the bacon and the cold spinach from earlier. It looked like the chef used the same plate. At this point I just wanted to leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. Overall the food was ok, but I have had better. I have worked as a waitress and in room service for 18 years and I am appalled at what I have experienced. Good service is something very different.
