If we were to choose the best month of the year to visit Sorrento, it would be May! The only downside to a visit during this beautiful month are the number of large group tours that take over the coast, with heavy traffic that can clog the narrow lanes in and around Sorrento.

What to See and Do in May
There are a number of things you can see and do in and around Sorrento in May:
Walking and Hiking
This is the perfect month to explore the trails in the Lattari Mountains. If you would like to hike the Path of the Gods, we recommend avoiding the famous trail on the weekends when it can be crowded.
Hiking on the Sorrento Peninsula
Archaeology
You can visit Pompeii, Herculaneum, or Villa Jovis on Capri. Remember to wear a hat and sunscreen, and to bring plenty of water...the sun gets hot this month, though the temperatures are mild!
Boat Tours
This is the best month to explore by sea, as later in the year the coast off Sorrento, Capri, and Positano is often crowded with boats from all over the world.
You can join a small-group tour or a private tour from Sorrento...both are an unforgettable way to discover the coastline.
