September is one of the best months of the year to visit Sorrento. Temperatures are still high, but the August crowds have left the coastline so the beaches, towns, public transportation, and hiking trails are much more pleasant.

September is the perfect month to relax on the beach, especially after the school year begins and you have the beach almost to yourself.
September is also the ideal time of year to take a boat tour of Capri or the Amalfi Coast. To visit Capri by sea, catch a ferry to the island and then rent or charter a private boat to tour the coastline of the island once you disembark.
In September, ferries between Sorrento and Positano/Amalfi are still running.
Events in September
Around the 12th of September for the Feast day of Santa Maria, the nearby town of Meta holds a fair on the beach with stands selling trinkets and food, and fireworks after sunset.
