Best way to tour the Amalfi Coast on a hot, summer day!

We recently enjoyed a full day tour with Positano Boat Tours, on board the ‘Master.’ Our guide and captain, Simon, ever professional and friendly, was deeply familiar with the Amalfi Coast having navigated the local waters since his childhood. We were picked up at the Positano ferry slip by a motored dinghy to shuttle us to the boat where we met Simon. After providing a brief orientation to the watercraft, including a fridge/cooler well-stocked with water, soda/pop, and an assortment of beer/Aperol spritzer, we set off from Positano and ranged to Maiori. We brought some snacks including fresh fruit and chips, and am glad we didn’t bring more substantial food (no need to bring any sort of picnic lunch, and in fact would be discouraged to avoid soiling the beautiful wood deck from spilled food). We cruised at a comfortable speed, enough to generate a warm breeze, on a hot, humid, cloudless day. Simon was available and happy to answer questions about the many towers and other land features we passed. He also shared bits about the coastal history which we enjoyed. The boat was pristine and well-maintained, and we were asked to doff our shoes while on board. While I’m not sure what the maximum number of passengers is permitted for this watercraft, it was perfect for our party of four, with two of us spending their time sunbathing on the foredeck. A head was available in the cabin belowdeck. On the return we stopped into a small cove for lunch at a boat-accessed restaurant, San Croce, which had reasonably priced meals, served in a beautiful setting. There also was a small pebbly beach but we didn’t stay ashore for long as we wanted to get back on board where we took the opportunity to go for a swim from the boat at anchor. We passed on a grotto visit as one of our group had not brought their sea legs that day! A wonderful way to spend the day, and we would happily go back with this group and skipper to continue exploring other aspects of the coast!
