When you travel between these two towns by sea, you’ll get the chance to admire this spectacular coastline and its views, even if you don’t plan to take a boat tour during your vacation.

The ferry companies offer numerous daily crossings between Amalfi and Sorrento.
High season (April-October): Up to 11 trips per day, with the first ferry departing at 8:55 am and the last ferry departing around 5:05 pm.
Low season (November-March): Less frequent crossings with a couple of trips per day (usually in the afternoon). Bad weather or rough seas can cause crossings to be canceled.
The crossing time varies from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on how many stops the hydrofoil makes. It almost always stops in Positano, as well as sometimes Maiori, Minori, and other small ports along the coast.
The boats used for this crossing are hydrofoils and small pedestrian ferries that can dock at the small piers on the coast.

Vehicles can’t embark on any vessels that depart from the Port of Amalfi, so if you’re coming by car, you’ll need to leave the car at one of the paid parking lots located near the port.
In the summer, trips to Salerno, Capri, and towns along the coast leave from the Port of Amalfi. Hydrofoils going to Sorrento stop along the way at other locations along the coast, including Positano.
